Ditch Assist X is the first affordable alternative to using lasers when digging to grade. Using an RTK GPS receiver plus Ditch Assist X Sensor Modules mounted on the machine, the operator can use the Ditch Assist App to verify bucket elevation and check grade at any position in real-time.
Designed specifically with digging or cleaning out drainage ditches and trenching in drainage pipes in mind, Ditch Assist X eliminates the need to re-position lasers, or use a spotter to verify grade/depth. The operator can use the Ditch Assist app to set a target grade, just like a laser, and as they begin working the app will provide visual and audible guidance to maintain the required grade. If a Bluetooth-enabled GPS is being used it is also possible to transfer the GPS and tablet to an ATV to survey the proposed route, then use Ditch Assist's advanced Slope-IQ function to design a variable slope ditch to dig.

Ditch Assist X uses a combination of machine mounted GPS and sensors to compute accurate bucket elevation at any machine position. The GPS antenna is mounted on the included pendulum mount at the pivot point between the stick and stick cylinder. Ditch Assist X modules are mounted on the dog-bone and on the stick.
Once measurements and calibrations have been performed using our intuitive calibration app, the modules transmit corrected bucket elevations over Wi-Fi to the Ditch Assist app in the cab.

Ditch Assist X Standard Kit (Includes GPS Cables)
Ditch Assist X calculates real-time accurate bucket elevation on any backhoe or track hoe. Provides on-screen, on-grade guidance via the Ditch Assist App running on an Android tablet (tablet not included, to be purchased locally).
This is the standard Ditch Assist X Kit, designed to be paired with existing RTK GPS, and includes everything required for operation except tablet & GPS.
Ditch Assist X S321 VRS CORS RTK KIT
Are you in an area with access to a CORS or VRS network (such as CanNet in Canada, and state-wide CORS in many US States)? This is an affordable alternative to buying a base station for RTK, plus providing the most efficient experience - just power on and get to work, no base station to setup! Note that cellular data and reasonable cell signal strength is required, and you'll need a SIM card from your provider, plus a subscription to the CORS/VRS service.
If you are a contractor or consultant wanting to use survey-grade RTK for other things when not in use for Ditch Assist then the Hemisphere S321 should be on your short-list. Extremely rugged, and offering excellent performance for both Ditch Assist and surveying. The S321 receivers feature built-in Bluetooth for wireless NMEA out when surveying (also ideal for shooting the grade between two points using the Ditch Assist app), and also include a built-in cellular modem and internal software for use on VRS or CORS networks. Simple to configure via any web browser, and can be powered by removable batteries (2x batteries included which should get you through a 4-6 hour day). The S321 has built-in 430-470MHz radios for long transmission ranges.
